Description
A orisha,or spirit of the Yoruba religion. Oba is guardian of the hearth and the first wife of Changó. She is the landlady of all cementires and is always depcited with a white scarf wrapped around her head. In a Yoruba tale, her head covering was given to her by Obatalá after taking pitty upon her. Oba had removed her ear to prove her love for Changó and offered it to him to eat an Okra stew. Upon learning the truth he to their home in horror.
